Matt Miller, LEED AP IGSHPA ACCREDITED INSTALLER
Matt Miller was born and raised in Reno, NV and studied at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where he earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Astrospace Engineering and an appointment as an Ensign in the Navy. During his time in the Navy, he earned his FE certification in Civil Engineering from the National Council for Engineering and Surveying. LT Miller also successfully ran the daily Engineering and Combat Systems operations on America's most state-of-the-art warships.
After the Navy, Matt became interested in renewable energy and searched for a technology where his engineering and leadership background could provide a service to Northern Nevadans to significantly impact today's pressing environmental issues. With that goal in mind, Matt earned his certification as an Accredited Installer and Designer of Geothermal Heating and Cooling systems from the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association in 2008. Matt has also earned his certification as an Accredited Professional (LEED AP) from the US Green Building Council, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Matt has the expertise to lead a design and construction team on projects ranging from residential to the largest commercial builds. Matt is excited to bring his engineering expertise and expert team to Northern Nevada to offer his customers opportunities to reduce their environmental impact and save significant amounts of money at the same time.
Jim Wallace
Project Manager
Jim Wallace brings large scale commercial construction experience to the GBL team. Jim has worked on a cumulative project value of almost $100M. Most recently he worked for Devcon Construction (Milpitas based) as a Project Engineer. Jim worked on various projects while at Devcon, but none more noteworthy than Reno Aces Stadium, a $45M AAA ballpark built in downtown Reno. The fast track project transformed a fire station, a motel and a barren lot into the largest sporting venue in Northern Nevada in just nine months. The course of construction often pushed ahead of the design process, reinforcing the demand for concise action and direction. Appropriate time and resource management backed up by dedication and strong communication placed Jim in a position to help complete this landmark project on budget and ahead of schedule.
Prior to his employment at Devcon, Jim worked on another high profile project in downtown Reno: the Palladio. The Palladio is a $50M, 120,000 square foot, mixed use hi-rise condominium complex built overlooking the Truckee River. The flagship of downtown Reno’s revitalization campaign, the Palladio fell into financial trouble during construction and was entrusted to a court appointed receivership. Jim went to work for this four-person team and helped guide the project to successful completion in the midst of a housing and economic downturn. The Palladio went from a dormant concrete shell to vibrant living and work community in part due to the diligence and efforts that Jim contributed.
Jim Wallace is a graduate of Santa Clara University, and pursued a 5-year minor league baseball career before entering the construction industry.
