RESIDENTIAL Geothermal Incentives

Federal Income Tax Credit

  • 30% of total system cost
  • Credited limited to $2000 for 2008
  • No limit to credit amount for 2009 and beyond
  • Can be used to offset AMT tax
  • Can be used in more than one year
  • Can be combined with solar and wind tax credits
  • Can be combined with energy efficiency upgrade credits

Eligibility:

  • Home must be located in the U.S.
  • Does not have to be your main home
  • Includes houses,apartments, condos, mobile homes
  • Geothermal heat pump must meet energy star requirements
  • Installed between 1/1/2008 and 12/31/2016

ARIZONA INCENTIVES

Incentive Type: Utility Rebate Program
State: Arizona
Eligible Efficiency Technologies: Heat pumps, Air conditioners, Duct/Air sealing
Applicable Sectors: Residential
Amount: Heat Pumps/AC Units: $175 - $525, depending on SEER
Duct Test: .75 X cost of test
Duct Repairs: .75 X cost of repairs
Maximum Incentive: Maximum of 5 Heat Pumps/AC units per household
Duct Test: $75
Duct Repairs: $175
Equipment Requirements: Heat Pumps/AC Units: 10.8 EER; SEER requirements vary (minimum 13)
Installation Requirements: For the APS AC Rebate, units must be installed by an APS qualified contractor.
For the Duct Test and Repair Rebate, tests and repairs must be done by a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Contractor.
